ALBANY, GA (WALB) - One south Georgia organization is collecting toiletries to distribute to homeless people for Christmas.
Dee and Doc Melton Senior Cultural Visions Inc. collected items all day Saturday in front of the Dollar Tree on Dawson Road.
The items will be delivered to six counties around south Georgia, including Dougherty, Worth, Tift, Terrell, and Turner counties.
CEO RueNette Melton said they collect these items to help the homeless community, which she believes is overlooked.
"They need and they do not receive," she said. "And most of them are living in wooded areas where people don't go. But we go there, we go and we find them. And we make sure they get just what they need."
The boxes of donated toiletries will be delivered Christmas Eve.
