The man who led police on a foot chase and standoff in East Albany is in the Dougherty County jail tonight charged with four counts of aggravated assault.
Dougherty County Police tell us William Spence Junior fire multiple shots at three officers plus a bystander. The DCP was helping Albany Police search for stolen property at a home on War Eagle Avenue when Spence came out of the home and fired a gun and ran off.
He led police to Torey Pines Lane where he threatened to shoot himself. The SWAT team was called out. After speaking with negotiators for two hours Spence decided to surrender.
Spence is also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Two women, who are Spence's sisters, were later arrested charged with burglary in the case Albany Police were originally working.
