CORDELE, GA (WALB) - The Crisp County Sheriff's Office provided a sweet treat for Cordele primary school students Wednesday.
The sheriff and several deputies spent a couple hours at school, and bought ice cream for more than 1,300 students.
Sheriff Billy Hancock said it was his way of sharing the Christmas spirit with students.
They also say it's important to interact with children in the community.
"They're the ones that are going to grow up in our community. We hope that most of them stay here. So it's important to us that we implant in them at a very young age that we are the good guys, and we're they're to help them," said Crisp Co. Sheriff's Captain Denise Youngblood.
Every student was able to pick out whatever flavor ice cream they wanted.
