ALBANY, GA (WALB) - With only a couple of weeks left in 2015, many of us are beginning to think about those New Year's resolutions.
Some studies estimate the average American gains between two to five pounds over the holiday season.
If dropping those holiday pounds is on the top of your to-do list, there are ways to get a head start before January 1st.
PT Gym Owner and Manager Perry Buchanan said if you're planning to get lean in 2016, now is the time to get the most bang for your buck.
He said the weeks leading up to the new year are the best times to consider joining a gym.
Gyms, like almost any other businesses, have yearly financial goals they want to achieve.
So during these final weeks of December, clubs are offering promotions and specials to attract new applicants.
He said that getting in shape is not a short term goal, so joining a gym should be a long-term commitment.
"The main thing is just try to stay long-term focused. You can't do it all in a month," said Buchanan. "It's great to have resolutions. All a resolution is is a goal. So start those New Year's resolutions, but think long term."
Buchanan suggests doing your research before the last day of the year to see the deals each gym is offering.
