ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A businessman is stepping up to promote and reward student growth with his "through the eye of a camera" program.
Yaz Johnson donated $250,000 worth of gift certificates to the Dougherty County school system this afternoon. He wants every school to give one student per grade, per week a $100 gift certificate for his photography business.
"To encourage them to keep on doing well and to reward them and let them know that they're not being missed," said Johnson.
"We appreciate community support. We need community support, and we encourage community support. This effort to educate children and bring families together is a holistic effort," said Dr. Deborah Jones, a Dougherty County principal.
Johnson said the gift certificates can be used for family portraits or personal pictures.
