Police warn shoppers to remain vigilant, avoid scams

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Police are asking shoppers to use caution during holiday shopping.

They say you should always lock your car doors and avoid leaving your purchases in plain sight.

Police also say that women should keep their purses close to them and secured at all times.

"Make sure if you place it in a buggie or a shopping cart, make sure you have a visual of that item. Never go no farther than 2 or 3 feet away from it," warned Captain Maurice Holmes with Thomasville Police.

The department said they were increasing patrols downtown and in other busy retail areas.

They urge everyone to call them if you see any suspicious activity.
