IRWIN CO., GA (WALB) - According to law officials December is typically a month when a lot of folks buy guns. The Irwin County Sheriff's Office wants to make sure people use those guns properly.
Today just over a dozen people came out to the Irwin County Sheriff's Office gun safety class.
People learned about their rights, purchasing a gun, and also how to use a gun safely.
The Sheriff Deputy who teaches this class says they pick this time of the year because that's when most people buy guns.
"It's like a gun spending time people you know, start gifts. People start going on vacation and you start hearing more about a lot of crime home invasion robberies in parking lots and people seem to think maybe I should buy a gun," Bryan McRee said.
The Sheriff's office is considering doing this more than once a year.
