Runners gear up for Red Nose 5K Run

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

South Georgia runners are ready to hit the streets for a good cause in Thomasville. Saturday morning kicks off the annual Red Nose 5K Run.

The annual Red Nose 5K run for parents and kids is Saturday morning. Tickets start at $25 with the money going to the Junior Service League's sports for kids with medical needs, eye glasses and summer camp scholarships.

"Parents are welcome to run with the children in the fun run and the kids are welcomed to join the adults in 5K as well its a way to close of Victorian Christmas weekend and burn off calories and get ready for their Christmas holidays that are approaching," said Chairman Tory Schofill.

Registration will continue Saturday morning at Thomas University. The 5K will start at 8 a.m. and the fun run begins at 9 a.m.

    Albany Utilities has occupied the 207 Pine Ave. building since the late 70s, but utility leaders say it’s time to move on. Stephen Collier, Assistant City Manager of Utilities, told WALB News 10 that the current building is no longer in shape to do business.
