Tifton Toys for Tots collects thousands of toys

TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

People in Tifton have already donated 5,000 toys to the Toys for Tots drive. All of the toys will go to about 300 families in Tift County. 

The United Way of South Central Georgia is collecting the toys. Students from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College also came out to volunteer putting bags for the families together. 

Many donations came from several organizations. 

"We are overwhelmed right now because it's such a blessing to give back," said Pat McKinnon. "And that's the nature of the game we just want everyone to give back along with our Santa's Helpers here in Tift County those are some diligent ladies that helped with this process."

The United Way also collects toys for Irwin, Ben Hill and Cook counties. There is still time to donate. You may contact the United Way at (229) 382-2881.
