ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A national survey has named the Sonny's Real Pit Barbecue in Albany the "Barbecue Capital of Georgia."
Dun and Bradstreet compiled data from each state, finding the city with the highest density of steak and barbecue restaurants' per capita, and then judging them for the best barbecue. Sonny's received the title after the survey.
Eric McCallum is the pit master responsible for all of the cooking at Sonny's. He said his team was thrilled to win the award.
"We have the best barbecue. Low and slow is how we do it. And we take care of it. And it's tender. And we do it to make our guests happy," said McCallum.
The study also recommended that customers try Sonny's slow-smoked turkey meat. McCallum said Sonny's has been barbecuing for 47 years. Now according to a national survey, they are the capital of Georgia when it comes to good tasting food.
