ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Thanks to a state grant, an old mural next to Thronateeska's history museum in downtown Albany will be revitalized. Work to restore the mural on a building owned by Sellers Tile Distributors will start in April.
Artist Andrew Sabori from Covington, along with some South Georgia art students, will paint the new mural. It will feature historic places and people, and Thronateeska leaders say it will create another reason for folks to go downtown.
Coordinator Alex La Pierre said, "Well I certainly think it will give our community something else to come to, something to be proud of, and take pride in, it will also intrigue our visitors."
They also plan to incorporate social media, pushing folks to take photos at the new mural and "picture themselves in Albany."
