Lee Co. approves zoning changes for assisted living center

LEE CO., GA (WALB) - A new assisted living center and possible medical office building will be built in Lee County.

County commissioners approved zoning changes for the site near Oakland parkway behind a residential area.

Leaders said that the developers worked with residents, even agreeing to add a buffer to make sure they're okay with the project.

"I do appreciate that developer. Really has worked hard to meet the needs of the neighborhood and you know I love it when people resolve their problems amongst themselves. As opposed to bringing in a judge and a jury or a board of commissioners," said Chairman Rick Muggridge.

Construction will hopefully start in February.
