New initiative launched to hire veteran poll workers

The secretary of state is pushing a new initiative to recruit veterans to work at the polls. Election officials around Georgia are encouraged to hire veterans to work at the polls as record numbers are expected to vote in the 2016 presidential election.

Dougherty County Elections supervisor Ginger Nickerson says they always need help, and she thinks those who have served our country would do a great job.

“We think that they would make excellent poll workers along with all the other workers of course that we recruit. We don't think anyone is too small of course. All of our workers should be saluted for the work that they do," says Ginger Nickerson, Elections Supervisor.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp also launched a website with training videos and materials for poll workers.
