Sheriff collects toys for kids in the community

CRISP CO., GA (WALB) -

The sheriff is collecting toys to donate to hundreds of children in need in the county.

Sheriff Billy Hancock received several dozen toys from members of the Flint Boat Club over the weekend. The toys will all go to the Gateway Center for their adopt an angel program.

Representatives of the group will take the presents the week before Christmas to about 100 families in crisp county. Anyone can drop off toys at the sheriff's office.

"Not only do you as an individual get to go and celebrate the spirit of Christmas, you also get to help somebody else, that without your help, wouldn't have a Christmas," said Sheriff Hancock.

The sheriff says another group has also pledged to donate toys at their Christmas party.
