The Coffee County Sheriff's Office responded to shots being fired at the Just Jump For Kids recreation center on 3045 U.S. Highway 441. The incident happened at about 12:32 a.m.
Upon arrival, officials were advised someone had been shot. The victim was 19-year-old Gabriel Demetrius Douglas. EMS then reported to the scene and transported Douglas victim to Coffee Regional Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.
Coffee Co. detectives were notified and investigated the incident. The Douglas GBI was also called for their assistance.
Douglas' body will be taken to the GBI’s Medical Examiner’s Office in Savannah, where an autopsy will be conducted.
Detectives and GBI are still investigating the shooting. No further information is going to be released, as the investigation is ongoing.
