GA to offer free credit monitoring after private information released

ATLANTA, GA (WALB) -

The Georgia Secretary of State's office is providing free credit monitoring services after admitting to putting state registered voter identities at risk.

If a Georgia resident's identity is compromised over the next year, they will automatically get free identity theft restoration services from a company called CSID.

You can also sign up for free identity theft monitoring for a year.

The services will be available within 10 to 14 business days.

The offer comes after the Secretary of State's office sent out discs to media and political groups that mistakenly contained social security numbers and other private information of Georgia's 6 million registered voters.
