ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital kicked off the holiday season with 'Lights of Love' that honored and memorialized cancer patients.
Deerfield Windsor Elementary School teacher Heather Yeiser lit the 40 foot tree for Tuesday's celebration.
Yeiser was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2013 after her first mammogram, and celebrated her last cancer treatment in December 2014.
"These lights represent hope and love for those of us who have fought this battle, for those who have won the battle on the other side and those who will one day who will walk through these halls as Cancer patients. We all benefit from the wonderful donations that people make," said Yeiser.
This was the 33rd year for the holiday fundraising event, which benefits Southwest Georgia cancer patients.
