ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Advocacy Resource Center is helping families with special needs children think about their future.

They held a forum educating parents about benefits in Medicaid and the resources available if they are ever unable to take care of their children.

One South Georgia attorney said it's important that parents understand the complex system.

"It's a very complex system of benefits both state and federal. There's a lot of detail that goes into planning. I work with many families here in South Georgia where I grew up on these issues and I love being able to help them put the pieces together so they know that they have a good plan in place," said attorney Paul Black.

Black says it's important parents utilize the Albany ARC for support.
