ALBANY, GA (WALB) - City officials are preparing for Albany's annual Christmas Parade.

The tree and decorations are up for the 25th annual "Silver Bells in the City" Celebration of Lights Parade on Saturday.

This year's Christmas tree will be dedicated to Chuck Mitchell, a retired 911 center employee who helped organize the parade when it started in 1990.

"That's a quarter of a century that our team has been putting on the Christmas parade and it's grown from a hometown parade to really a regional parade. About 40 thousand people come. It's so special this year because it is our silver anniversary so we're really excited," said Parade Coordinator Lori Farkas.

Eames Tree Lot provided this year's Christmas tree, and all the lights are LED.

The performances will start at 5 p.m., the parade runs from 6 to 8 and you can watch it live on WALB if you can't make it downtown.
