TIFTON, GA (WALB) - The family of the man shot in Tift County Friday are still grieving their loss as his cousin, who was also shot, recovers.
Dexter Lumpkin Senior is still trying to get over the loss of his son.
Dexter Lumpkin Junior was shot in a hangout spot on Wilton Avenue in Tift County about 2:50 a.m. Friday.
His cousin Gregory Lumpkin was shot as well. Gregory's sister Jessica Stroerzier says she wished she had spent more time with her cousin in the last time she saw him, instead of worrying about cooking.
"Turkey was more important to me than my family. So I lost one and I likely lost both." she said while crying.
Lumpkin says his son was a father of two who was aiming to live up to his name.
For Jessica this is hard lesson learned for her. But she hopes others can learn from what she's going through.
"Family comes first, no matter what people go through. Always love your family because you don't know when they're gone," she said.
The GBI is handling the investigation.
