Local business owners hope to see crowds for 'Small Business Saturday'

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

While big retailers benefited from Black Friday shoppers, local business owners are hope you'll save some of your shopping energy for Small Business Saturday.

Envy, a women's boutique on Old Dawson Road in Albany, was busy Friday with shoppers buying up the latest fashions.

Just like other small businesses they said the support from local shoppers is key to their success and are hoping for a big turnout Saturday.

"You know with all the big box stores taking over Black Friday You have to support your local businesses. We've been in business for twelve years and the past few years we've been doing the small business Saturday," said Envy Owner Julia Temples.

Small Business Saturday was first recognized in 2010 in an effort to sway shoppers to brick and mortar stores that are important to local economies.
