THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A relative of a Meigs convenient store manager was punched in the stomach after giving her jewelry to a thief.

Officials say when the woman was leaving a convenient store, she was robbed at gun point by a South Georgia man demanding money from her. The woman didn't have it so he stole her jewelry and then struck her in the abdomen and shoved her against a utility pole.

"That was the ridiculous part of it, the totally unnecessary part of it. She cooperated in given him what he requested, why he struck her is what's just heinous about it," said Captain Steve Jones.

Officials say it was a black male last seen wearing a hoodie. If you have any information call the Thomas County Sheriff's Office.
