Suspected Albany child molester in jail

Jean Robert Washington Jean Robert Washington
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany man wanted by police on child molestation charges is in the Dougherty Co. Jail.

APD arrested 29-year-old Jean Robert Washington about 1 p.m. on Thursday at an apartment in the 1300 block of South Madison Street.

Washington made his first appearance before a judge on Friday morning. He was charged with child molestation, aggravated sodomy, and committing sodomy with force.

The mother of the child Washington is accused of hurting, his estranged wife who did not want to be identified, said he molested her 5-year-old daughter for more than two months.

The mother said he threatened to hurt the girl if she told. "Every night she's waking up crying in her sleep," said the mother. "She pulls out all her hair. She's having problems in school, the teachers complaining. I just want him caught, so if anybody can find him or see him anywhere please call the law because this could be your daughter."

Washington is being held without bond until a Superior Court judge can rule on his charges.
