THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The 89th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade features five South Georgians.
Andrea Davis, Ciara Ames, C'lee Kornegay, Courtney Robinson and Madison Smith, are all SuperStar Dancers with Dance Academy of Thomasville.
They were invited to participate by the Spirit of America Dance Team featuring dancers from across the US. The young ladies had to meet audition requirements including dance history such as dancing in the Disney Christmas parades for years.
"The dancers are very excited to have been selected. It is a big honor and reflects their hard work and desires to perform. We were told they estimate a crowd of 3.5 million people and a TV audience of 50 million viewers. This is an awesome venue to showcase some of our Thomasville dancers and the whole community should be proud," said Susan Knisely, studio owner & director.
The dancers from Thomasville will not be the only Georgia participants. Miss America 2016, Betty Cantrell, will be one of the many celebrities in the parade.
The annual special includes stars Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Mariah Carey, Dove Cameron and Sofia Carson, Cirque du Soleil, Daughtry, Andra Day, and is on WALB-NBC, until noon.
