ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Southwest Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross is helping the Brooks family get back on their feet.

Thomas Harris joined the Red Cross as a Disaster Action Team volunteer in September.
He's helping the Brooks family meet their immediate needs and start their recovery process.
He says joining the Red Cross has been a fulfilling experience.

"I'm one of those people that believe that a few small kind good acts by a few selfless acts by a few selfless people can make a big difference in our community,” said Thomas Harris, Disaster Action Team Member. “I decided by going out and helping people who are in immediate need of immediate care that I'll be able to make a small difference in somebody's life."

You can donate or volunteer to assist families in need through the Red Cross by calling 229-436-4845.
