ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Public health officials are warning folks who want a tattoo to make sure they visit a licensed shop.
Some health departments in the state are getting more reports about unlicensed body artists.
They say before you get a tattoo or body piercing you should ask to see the business's current permit and health inspection report.
18-year-old Demara Perry got a body piercing at the Tattoo Shop in Albany because she knew it was licensed.
"Because you want to make sure that you are going to the right person for your piercing and that it won't be infected," said Demara Perry.
"When you come to a licensed establishment you have that comfort to know that they've been checked and they're clean and you don't have to worry about diseases and things that go along with it," said Tina Case, Owner of The Tattoo Shop. "Where as when you sit at your kitchen table you never know."
Tina Casey says at her shop all licenses and devices are out for customers to see.
