THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A mother was freed Tuesday night while her husband remained in jail after they were both arrested Friday on charges of abusing their infant twins.

Investigators say one of the twins suffered several broken bones, and both infants had bruises on their body.

Alexandria East was released on a $10,100 bond and Jack East remains in jail after his bond was denied.

The twins are now in the custody of DFCS.

"This makes this case very unique. In the years that we've investigated child abuse here at the Sheriff's Office this is probably the youngest victim that we've ever had in this type of a case," said Tim Watkins with the Thomas County Sheriff's Office.

Both parents are charged with aggravated battery and cruelty to children for a total of 6 felony charges.
