ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A fire at Pine Bluff Mobile Estates has destroyed a mobile home, and left all its residents without a place to live.

The Albany Fire Department responded to the blaze about 8:30 Tuesday morning.

Mike Brooks, who lives in the home with his wife Venitian, said they tried to get the heater going this morning, when he saw flame and smoke pour out of it.

They got everyone out of the home, and the fire grew.

Ten people live there, including eight children, ranging in age from two weeks old to 18 years.

The family's belongings were destroyed by the fire, which sent flames high into the air. The mobile home is also a total loss.

"It happened just that fast. By the time I got from the kitchen, where the fire was, and got my kids out.  It was already, the house was full of smoke," said Mike Brooks

The family lost everything, and they're waiting to see what their insurance will cover.

Mr. Brooks works at Sam's Club, and co-workers and the American Red Cross are trying to help the family. If you want to help, call the Flint River Red Cross at  (229) 889-9000, or Sam's Club at (229) 888-3400.
