Tift Commissioner collects coats to keep people warm

TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

An effort to help folks in need stay warm this winter is growing in Tifton.

The Tifton YMCA has already donated one box full of coats to the Keep Em Warm Coat drive led by Tift County Commissioner Melissa Hughes.

She says last year the "Y" donated three boxes full of gently-used coats.
Hughes says there's a major need for children coats.

"As a community we need to focus more on our children by helping with giving coats. Because like today it's a cool morning and there may be some children standing without," Commissioner Melissa Hughes said.

Hughes plans to take donations until December 21st. You can drop the coats off at the YMCA, Carriers Cleaners, or  Kelly's Dry Cleaners in Tifton.
