Frigid weather could hurt plants

Mark Daniel Mark Daniel

With cold weather in the forecast, you might want to cover sensitive plants and crops tonight.

Mark Daniel, with Mark's Melon Patch, says he's been busy covering peanuts so they'll survive tonight's colder weather. He suggests you do the same with plants that don't do well in the cold.

"They certainly need to cover them up with plastic or anything they can find, like a road cover, anything that shields them from the moisture of the dew that will cause the frost, and that's going to fry them when the sun comes out," said Daniel.

He says you can also just set your plants close to your house so the dew can't fall on them.
