ALBANY, GA (WALB) - As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, one Thomasville group wanted to make sure that everyone in their county has dinner on the table next week.
One woman said she was grateful for her community's help.
"I just want to say thank you Jesus, for being able to supply me something for Thanksgiving," said Rosa Booker.
Booker will now have food to feed the three kids in her home she's helping, plus a son of her own.
Nearly 500 people in need came out to Disciples of Jesus Ministries to receive food from the Breaking Bread Food Bank. The group gave out over 10,000 pounds of food.
Breaking Bread Ministries Director Shelia Tillmon said each year the goal is to reach as many people as possible in Thomas County. The group had been doing the deed for about 10 years, but it'd never gotten old for Tillmon.
"There is a lot of people that come to me day in and day out needing food," said Tillmon.
For Booker, it was something she was thankful to get on any given day.
"It's a blessing to be able to get it and you know it's a good thing that they got an organization people can get it," said Booker.
The group also donates food boxes to the community every second Tuesday of the month. They give to over 1,000 homes every year.
