TERRELL CO., GA (WALB) - In recognition of National Parent Involvement Day, the Terrell County Parent Academy held a special forum Thursday to help parents communicate with their children better.
The group was founded to improve relations within families and to help children do better in school.
"Parents are being trained to have effective communication with their children, how to deescalate behavioral problems, how to feel good about themselves and know that they have skills inside of them that they can wake up," explained Martha Jones Terrell Co. Parent's Academy Director.
"It's about your feelings and your feelings and your characteristics. They're positive," said child participant Zai'Niyah Jackson.
The academy meets twice a week at the Main Street Theater.
