SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - One man is behind bars after Sylvester Police said they found $1,000 worth of counterfeit bills in his wallet.
Leon Anderson,37, was arrested Tuesday night after police pulled him over for a traffic violation.
Officers found ten $100 bills in Anderson's wallet, which were determined to be fake.
Lieutenant Kenneth Washington said counterfeit money is a growing problem this time of year.
"It's a big problem with our merchants and our stores," said Lt. Washington. "They're being passed at stores, they're being used, and they are really just hurting our economy here."
Anderson told police the money was used for games.
He was booked into the Turner county jail.
Investigators will take warrants on Anderson for second degree forgery.
