ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A number of South Georgians will witness Thursday night's execution of convicted Marcus Ray Johnson.
About a half dozen members of the Angela Sizemore family are scheduled to be at the Jackson prison for the execution including the victim's daughter.
Also District Attorney Greg Edwards is scheduled to attend the execution. He was the chief prosecutor at the trial in 1998, and has continued the state's arguments through all the proceedings, including today's clemency hearing.
"I have no doubt in my mind that Marcus Ray Johnson is guilty and the jury has spoken. And believe based upon the facts and the law that this was the appropriate punishment for the crimes," said Greg Edwards Dougherty D.A.
Also scheduled to witness the execution, former District Attorney Ken Hodges, who was the D.A. in Dougherty County during the initial trial, and who also testified today at the clemency hearing.
WALB's Cade Fowler is a media witness.
