ARLINGTON, GA (WALB) - Investigators named the man who was shot and killed in an officer involved shooting in Early County Tuesday.
The GBI said the name of the victim was 58-year-old Derry Eugene Touchtone.
The deputy who shot him was identified as Sgt. Mickey White.
According to a report, Touchtone was in his car with hazard lights flashing in the middle of the road when White arrived.
Someone had called 911 about a man harassing customers at Jerry's Country Meat and Catering on Hwy. 45. just before 1 p.m.
When White arrived, Touchtone got out of the car, approached him, and began to hit him, officials said.
Special Agent In Charge Kim Baker said White used his Taser, but that did not stop Touchtone.
That's when White fired twice, hitting and killing him.
