DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - It all started on Monday, when a Coffee County Sheriff's deputy stopped a driver who passing on double yellow lines on U.S. Highway 441 north of Douglas, near the Green Tree Lakes.
The driver bailed out of the stopped car, and took off running. A quarter mile away, he was picked up by another car. Backup officers soon cornered the car, and two men ran off.
They soon arrested Timothy Sanchez Blank, 25, of Broxton who as the first driver. Rashaan Cortez Sims, 25, of Douglas who was the driver who picked Blank up.
Both were on parole for unrelated criminal offenses. Officers found 2.5 ounces of marijuana in the vehicle Blank abandoned. Officers found another ounce of marijuana when they apprehended Blank and Sims.
Blank has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, fleeing / attempting to elude law enforcement officers, and reckless driving.
Sims has been charged with obstruction of law enforcement officers, and is facing additional drug charges.
That same day, the Coffee Drug Unit stopped a vehicle on New Forest Highway, where officers discovered a few packages of methamphetamine in the vehicle. One occupant, Wendy Michelle Harper, 34, of Wray, also had a half ounce of methamphetamine in her clothing.
Another passenger, Terrell DeWayne Story, 33, of Douglas, was detained on behalf of State Probation; and Kenneth Lee Green, 35, of Broxton was arrested for giving false name and information to law enforcement officers and probation violation warrants.
The final arrest of the day happened when the Coffee Drug Unit stopped another vehicle on College Avenue, for running a red light.
Officers found two packages of spice and a package of marijuana. Christopher Brandon Reese, 19, of Douglas was charged with disregard of traffic signal and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Jerrid Slade Lott, 23, of Douglas was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
