Darton students in Cordele express thoughts on merger

CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

Folks are wondering what the merger might mean for the new Darton campus in downtown Cordele.

Dental hygienist student Shynecia Hardeman told us teachers there are very supportive of their students and she doesn't worry about the future.

“I don't have any concerns,” said Shynecia Hardeman, Student. “I think that it will be the same way because it's already based off a four year college and I don't think it would change anything in my opinion."

The Cordele Campus opened in January with a 60 thousand square foot, 3 story facility in the heart of downtown.
The board of regents voted unanimously to consolidate Albany State University and Darton just a few days after the plan became public.
Leaders hope the merger will be complete by early 2017.
