At midnight Sunday, the Georgia Municipal Association insurance policy with the city of Meigs expired. The city now has no insurance.
But Police Chief Gary Price said he is still working, regardless of the city's expired insurance situation.
The city is not being covered for liability due to Mayor Linda Harris' past legal trouble. Chief Price said city leaders have had enough time to find insurance, but they haven't.
Chief Price said that he is going in to work to make sure the police department is protected.
The city council is meeting Monday night at 6:30.
