ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Some of the original and young freedom singers came together to educate people in Albany.

Two generations of freedom singers came together today to spread their message. Albany's Freedom Singers and the junior Freedom Fingers were singing with each other at Old Mount Zion Church.

Organizers said it was important so the tradition can be passed along to the next generation.

"It's special especially for the junior freedom singers because they going to take up the mantel," said original Freedom Singer Rutha Harris. "You know we're getting older and I didn't want the freedom singers to stop."

The Freedom Singers perform every second Saturday at Old Mount Zion Church.
