11-year-old shot in east Albany

An 11-year-old was shot in east Albany Thursday night. An 11-year-old was shot in east Albany Thursday night.

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Police reported that a boy was shot Thursday night in east Albany, but who did it is not known.

APD says that 11-year-old Jeremiah Dickey was taken to the emergency room for a gunshot wound to the left leg, and was listed as "stable."

Dickey said at around 9:30, he went outside to his mother's car to get his backpack, and while he was reaching inside the vehicle, he heard what sounded like a gunshot, and then felt a sharp pain in his leg.

When Dickey went back inside his home on Mobile Avenue, he told his mother about the pain.

Erica White said that's when she immediately drove him to the hospital.

There are no known witnesses, but this case remains active with APD investigators.
