18 month sentence for Albany man for softball game cop attack

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A Dougherty County man is sentenced to 18-months in jail for  attacking a police officer at a middle school softball game.

Michael Jackson pleaded guilty to two felony counts of obstruction of an officer after his trial for aggravated assault on an officer started.

In September 2013, prosecutors say the former Marine grabbed a Dougherty County School System police officer by the throat and shoved her into bushes when he was asked to leave a softball park.

Witnesses say Jackson was shouting at his daughter's coach, disrupting the game.
He was taken into custody immediately after pleading guilty.
