ALBANY, GA (WALB) - New business growth and investment is being seen in Northwest Albany.
Demolition of the old Friedman's Clothing building on Westover Boulevard began this week.
New owners are tearing down the building while deals develop for businesses wanting to move into that block.
Restaurants including Panera Bread, Five Guys, Burgers and Fries, and Chipotle Mexican Grill are rumored for that area.
"It's very hot. There are things I can't say, but if people knew what was going on they would be real excited," said real estate agent Mary Carter. "I have 4 or 5 developers looking. Trying to do some deals. It's just a lot going on."
Also on that block, the old Bank Of America building has been sold and will be redeveloped.
It all potentially leads to more jobs and economic development in Albany's hottest commercial district.
