Federal attorney to step down

MACON, GA (WALB) -

Michael Moore, the U. S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, is leaving his post on November 23.

No successor has been named, and no reason has been announced to the media by his office so far.

Moore has been the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia since 2010, when he replaced Max Wood, who resigned to run for political office.

Moore has been involved in some high profile cases in Southwest Georgia, including the $16 million trucking fraud case run by contractors out of the Albany Marine Base, and and the on-going death investigations of Lowndes County student Kendrick Johnson.
