ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Three Albany State University students were robbed at gunpoint early Monday morning, off campus.

Just before midnight, the three male students filled a car with gas at a convenience store on East Oglethorpe and were driving in the 200 block of North Broadway, when a white Impala pulled in front of them.

The victims say three men jumped out of the car, two with guns, and stole their wallets and a backpack.

Albany State University Police are warning students crooks are targeting them.

"They know around the time when refunds are given.  They know when students are receiving money from home. The end of the semester, they are packing up. So they know when students are most vulnerable," said Albany State University Police Major Cadedria Hill.

At least five Albany State University students have reported being robbed at gunpoint in the last two months.
