ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany man remains on the run, after being convicted in absentia Wednesday, of shoplifting shrimp.
51 year old Anthony Mitchell left the courthouse after a jury was seated Tuesday for the start of his trial, and he did not return.
This morning the jury found Mitchell guilty of theft by shoplifting.
Prosecutors say he stole four packages of shrimp from the Pic And Sav grocery store on East Oglethorpe. The shrimp was worth $112.
Because this was Mitchell's fourth shoplifting conviction. It's a felony with a minimum sentence of one year in prison.
A warrant has been issued for Mitchell's arrest.
