ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Darton State College honored veterans Tuesday night through music.
The Orchestra, Concert Choir, and Concert Band took part in the ‘Darton Salutes’ tribute concert to Veterans.
Congressional Gold Medal Winner Henry Lee Jackson was also honored.
He was a Montford Point Marine, among the first African American United States Marines.

“It's one of the greatest things that ever happened to me,” said Henry Lee Jackson, Montford Point Marine. “It's because being a Montford Point Marine is one of the things that had to happen and it did happen."

"Less than 1% of the population signed their name on the line to defend our country and we just want to make sure that their service is recognized and honored and never forgotten,” said Stefane Raulerson, Director of Military and Adult Education.

Darton officials say they'll also support the opening ceremony of the Bridge Avenue Veterans Memorial Bridge.
The ceremony begins Wednesday at 11.
