ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Phoebe Putney Hospital has new state of the art technology to provide better cancer screenings.
3-D Mammography machines were recently installed at the Carlton Breast Health Center and at Meredyth Place helping women get a diagnosis earlier.
Donations through the Phoebe Foundation helped to pay for the technology.
"41% more invasive breast cancers are diagnosed using this technology over the traditional two dimensional, so that means that we're really going to find those cancers early and we have a great cancer program here," said Clif Buell, Administrative Director for Oncology Service Line. "When we find those cancers early that just means that we're going to be able to treat those cancers early, cure them and let them go on and live the rest of their lives."
This month, Phoebe is offering free mammograms to 100 women over 40.
You can find out how to qualify by contacting the Carlton Breast Health Center at 229-312-4800.
