Downed tree stirs up bees; closes trail

LEE CO., GA (WALB) - Officials say that the Pirates Cove Nature Park area Is closed right now, because bees are swarming in the area.

They got stirred up when the tree their hive is in broke and crashed to the ground, after heavy rains.

The area is off North Hampton Road in Lee County.

"The bees do a lot of good. For nature. They pollinate our plants and they also produce honey," said Jim Wright Lee Co. Code Enforcement Director.   

Lee County officials hope the beekeeper can relocate the hive later this week.
n the meantime they warn people to stay away from that area.
