ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Darton State Women's soccer team has been nothing short of dominant. As the Lady Cavs prep for the national tournament, they do so heavily decorated.
This season marked the 5th straight region championship, and they were just getting started.
The team also had eight players named to all-region teams. including five on the first team.
The youthful squad of 15 freshmen and 3 sophomores are 15-2 on the season, head coach Ken Veilands says their work is far from over.
"I'm very excited for them," said Veilands. "They earned it, there's no question about it. they swept the region, they won all the games, they won the tournament. But the way we handle that internally is we put that in our back pocket and we'll celebrate when the season is over."
"Just the team has made us be successful just being close together," said captain Kelly Hoffious. "I think our team deserved it for sure. We're a good team and we're good as a group and we work well together."
The Lady Cavs will find out who their first opponent in the NJCAA tourney will be this week. The games will be at Eastern Florida State.
