ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Young Marines in Albany made it their mission to give back to the community.

The group helped feed the homeless at the Rescue Mission in downtown Albany. Each young man played a role in serving lunch.

Each year they pick a special service project. This was the year they chose the Rescue Mission; all for a special reason.

"We looked at this a couple years ago and it looked like this area is the area we need more to get involved with," said Commander Nathaniel Lowman. "Because there are a lot of veterans with in this missionary and we found out that a great deal of them."

The food was prepared last night by one of their leaders. People got a nice and hearty meal of chicken casserole, meatballs, and a healthy salad.
